Mark Holmes Football Academy Ghana was found on June 19th, 2017. Mark Holmes was working as a football agent placing professional football players to clubs abroad. He was contacted by a coach called Solomon Owusu who said he had players in his hometown who were excellent.

The Mark Holmes Football Academy started 3 months before his call so decided to set up another Academy using Solomon Owusu as the head coach. Solomon has tremendous enthusiasm and showed videos of how good a coach he was.Mark set Solomon a task of getting as many quality players as possible together and forming Mark Holmes Football Academy Ghana. 4 names on a sheet of paper soon spread to books instead of a sheet and now over the last 3 years we have built arguably one of the best academies in Africa with over 300 elite footballers training ever day 4 hrs a day.

Mark Holmes Football Academy is unbeaten in 3 years because of the rigorous regime instilled from day one to get the best results on and off the pitch. Some of the players have represented their country at various levels as we strive to succeed in the world of football. We provide school and accommodation for the kids. Education plays a noticeably big part alongside football.

The daily routine starts at 5 am then going to church until 5.45 am. The players then go to the training field at 6 am and train for two hours. The kids then return to the Academy for breakfast. After breakfast they attend school. After school, they do their homework and are back on the training field at 5 PM-7 pm. Each child has a bucket. They wash their clothes at night and keep the courtyard and their rooms tidy. The kids all hang out together laughing and joking, playing games, sing and dance in the courtyard and all eat their dinner together. These kids breathe football.

It is a way of life to get out of poverty or to go on and be successful in their life because the Mark Holmes Football Academy also provides such a good education system for them. The parents are very happy seeing what Mark Holmes Academy has developed in Africa and the community. They have embraced Mark Holmes Football Academy because we not only look out for ourselves we also look out for others.

We can all make a difference in someone’s life. We are a community-based academy in Kuforidua and the community means everything to us in Africa and back in Inverness.
